Great Lawyers and Advocates have always been the strongest guards of the Constitution of India. It is not a surprise that Advocate Hamsa Devineni hailing from Raketla, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, is continuously leaving her mark on the first of law and justice as well as social reforms.
As a child, Smt Hamsa Devineni Garu has always been interested in the matters of Social justice and courtrooms. She was well focussed to become the fourth generation lawyer of the family. She did her B.A. LL.B. (Honours) from Pendekanti Law College and holds a distinction from Tulane University Law School, USA for her LLM. She also has a post-graduation in “Intellectual Property Laws” from NALSAR, the best law school in India. Hamsa briefly worked as the maritime advisor to the government of Andhra Pradesh and was instrumental in drafting the AP maritime board bill. Hamsa is a visiting faculty of the most revered Nalanda University, an international university in India. She is also a visiting faculty at NALSAR university in Hyderabad. She developed an interest in maritime laws and has been very actively working on finding solutions to challenges faced by India in the maritime field, more particularly the Indo- Pacific area.
In her pursuit to serve her country, she joined BJP and Smt Hamsa Devineni Garu worked as official Spokesperson and executive member of Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party. Being an executive member she has participated in many activities like youth morcha, women’s morcha and many other party activities to know the public opinions and eradication of problems. She was chosen to be the BJP candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha election where she dominantly made her presence felt to the opposition.
Hamsa hails from a family that has been well known since ages. Her Grandfather Shri Late Devineni Narayanswamy was a Freedom fighter who was jailed during the freedom struggle and later worked as a District Judge. After retirement, he took up active politics and after having lost two Lok Sabha elections as the MP candidate of Janata Party (1977 & 1980) for the Ananthapur constituency, he served as the Lok Sabha MP for the Telugu Desam Party from Ananthapur Parliamentary Constituency (1984-1989) and an MLA from Ananthapur representing the Telugu Desam Party (1983-1985). One of her grandfathers Late. Sri. Muthuluri Venkata Swamy was also contested as the Lok Sabha MP for the Bharatiya Janata Party from the Ananthapur Parliamentary constituency in 1991. Hamsa’s great grandfather Late Muthuluri Ramappa served as a magistrate during the British rule in India and was an active karyakarta of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh.
Hamsa’s vision and objectives have been passed on by her family and Hamsa strives for the betterment of the common people. Her passion towards social service made her associate with Blue Cross, and Make a Wish Organisations and currently, she is working with Brahma kumari spiritual organization. “There is in our system a gross injustice for the lower middle class and lower class strata of people, I want to help them with my knowledge and expertise”. She is often seen providing free legal advice to needy people and for this reason, she is one of the most famous politicians and advocates in Hyderabad.
