The multifaceted Bollywood actress, singer, writer and painter Suchitra Krishnamoorthi is all set to hit the popularity charts once again, with the release of her new single “Shararat”. Her new single and video for Shararat was released across digital platforms on World Music Day on 21st June 2023. Produced by Suchitra herself, Shararat has been composed by the talented Bangalore-based singer and composer Sunita Nagarajan and its powerful lyrics have been written by the acclaimed lyricist Mayur Puri who has written blockbusters such as Om Shanti Om and many more.
With the release of her new single, Suchitra bounces back to the music scene after a hiatus of 5 years. The video for Shararat, shot by Kunal Verma is clean and uncluttered. The focus is clearly on the melody and the lyrics of the song which allows listeners to play with their imagination and immerse themselves in the beauty of this romantic song. The lyrics of Shararat have a very modern context that questions the traditional notions of the male-female dynamic and romance. It takes an independent yet soft stance allowing people to delve into their own version of romance. Suchitra strongly believes that music is a gift of the divine and it’s her way of expressing her gratitude.

Speaking on her new single Shararat, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi says, “Shararat symbolizes my philosophy towards life, to love and all things beautiful and playful. It’s my way to tell life I love you back. If you look at life with mischief, joy and lightness it will always reward you with a smile. She adds, “I feel grateful for being able to lend my voice to such a beautiful composition by one of my favorite composers Sunita Nagarajan and beautiful poetry in the form of lyrics by Mayur Puri.
Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has made her mark as an actress, model and singer. She pursued a music career in the mid-to-late 1990s, releasing the pop albums Dole Dole, Dum Tara, Aha and Zindagi. Suchitra began her acting career with the TV series Chunauti and made her breakthrough in films in 1994, with Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, a commercial and critically acclaimed hit, opposite Shahrukh Khan. In 2013, she wrote her memoirs in the form of a novel, Drama Queen which sold out within a week of its release. Drama Queen, a musical theatrical written by Suchitra and adapted from her book has been staged by her as a solo show and has got rave reviews across the country. She is also gaining popularity on OTT platforms where she has appeared on interesting shows on Amazon Prime and more are on the pipeline.
