Spearheaded by visionary entrepreneur Sahil Luthra, Vijayan Trishul Defence Solutions (VTDS) is setting its sights on revolutionizing India’s defence manufacturing sector. With a firm commitment to innovation, precision, and self-reliance, the company is addressing critical challenges in a historically import-dependent industry. By leveraging strategic partnerships, state-of-the-art technology, and a location advantage within the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor, VTDS aims to play a transformative role in shaping India’s defence capabilities and contributing to its goal of becoming a global defence powerhouse.
1. What are the strategic hurdles Vijayan Trishul Defence Solutions is addressing as it works to become a key player in India’s defence manufacturing landscape, and how are you planning to overcome them?
Starting a defence manufacturing company comes with its own set of challenges, especially in a sector that demands precision and reliability. One of the major hurdles is building trust in a market where imported products have long dominated. To overcome this, we are focusing on producing top-quality ammunition that meets international standards. Additionally, setting up our operations in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor gives us access to resources and government support. By partnering with global technology leaders and assembling a strong team, we are laying the groundwork to deliver products that both meet the needs of our armed forces and help reduce dependence on imports.
2. How do you see India’s defence industry evolving over the next decade, and what role do you envision Vijayan Trishul Defence Solutions playing in shaping this future?
India’s defence industry is heading towards self-reliance, with a growing focus on indigenous manufacturing and innovation. Over the next decade, I see a stronger push for advanced technologies like drones, anti-drone systems, and high-precision ammunition. VTDS is committed to contributing to this vision by starting with the production of small-calibre ammunition and gradually expanding into areas like artillery shells and aerospace technology. Our goal is to become a trusted partner for the armed forces while also establishing ourselves as a competitive player in the global defence market.
3. As you build Vijayan Trishul Defence Solutions, how are your father’s legacy and business principles helping you lay the foundation for a culture of innovation and resilience?
My father’s values are at the core of everything we do at VTDS. His principles of hard work, determination, and honesty guide us as we build the company. He believed in doing things the right way, even if it took longer, and that belief has shaped the culture we are creating here. We encourage our team to think creatively and take ownership of their work while staying focused on our mission to support India’s defence sector. His legacy pushes us to aim higher and tackle challenges with resilience and determination.
4. As Vijayan Trishul Defence Solutions establishes itself, what milestones or measures will you use to track your progress toward contributing to India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing?
Our progress will be measured by key milestones like setting up our manufacturing unit, successfully producing our first batch of ammunition, and securing our first orders from the Indian Armed Forces. Delivering quality products that meet the exacting standards of the defence sector will be a major indicator of success. As we grow, expanding into new product categories and earning the trust of our customers will show that we are on the right track. Ultimately, our contribution to reducing imports and strengthening India’s defence capabilities will be the true measure of our impact.
5. Collaboration is key in the defence industry. How is Vijayan Trishul Defence Solutions planning to build partnerships that support India’s long-term defence capabilities?
We believe collaboration is vital for growth, especially in a field like defence manufacturing. By partnering with Globally recognised Ammunition Machine manufacturers, we are bringing in the best technology and expertise to support our manufacturing process. At the same time, we are working with domestic stakeholders in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor to create a network that benefits everyone involved. These collaborations are not just about business—they’re about sharing knowledge, improving processes, and ensuring that India can produce world-class defence equipment for years to come.
