Surat : In order to mark PM Mr. Narendra Modi’s 70 th birthday, the team at G.D.Goenka International School, Surat went about with the idea and concept of The Swatch Bharat Abhiyan in the city.
A squad inclusive of around 20 staff members visited the slums at Vesu and Bharat road in the city to accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage in accordance with the Swachh Bharat Mission, which was initiated and launched by our dear Prime Minister on the 2nd October 2014.
The team had gone about sanitizing and cleaning the entire place keeping in view the current pandemic scenario all around. They had also distributed free masks to the needy and homeless in those areas.
Coupled with the above, GDGIS also took up the challenge to clean the famous statues of Ravi Shankar Maharaj and Mahatma Gandhi located at the Bhatar Road and the Chowk Bazaar respectively, after getting the request for the same sanctioned by the honorable Mayor of the city.
This is not the first time the G.D.Goenka International School has put up a benchmark but every time the school keeps up its identity by promoting the social awareness to the masses in the best possible way; the school also believes in practicing what is preached intending the little Goenkans promoting the wisdom and attainments expressed by the School.
The efforts laid in by the school were well appreciated by the people of the city.
